  • Should have exactly three main points
    • One idea per point
  • Must use supporting points to substantiate your claims
    • Every point must have a least two subordinate points, or none at all. Don’t leave one “dangling”
  • Should pause for three seconds before beginning
  • Should have transitions between points

Main Points

When making body points:

  1. Make the point
  2. Explain the point
  3. Give specific details
  4. End with a concluding sentence that echos the earlier points
  5. Give a transition statement
