- Should have exactly three main points
- One idea per point
- Must use supporting points to substantiate your claims
- Every point must have a least two subordinate points, or none at all. Don’t leave one “dangling”
- Should pause for three seconds before beginning
- Should have transitions between points

When making body points:
- Make the point
- Explain the point
- Give specific details
- End with a concluding sentence that echos the earlier points
- Give a transition statement
