Emotional intelligence (EI or EQ) is the ability to perceive, use, manage, and understand our emotions.

There are four major components:

  1. Self-awareness
  2. Self-management
  3. Social awareness
  4. Relationship management

Emotional intelligence is set a birth, but it is developed throughout our lives. You can develop each emotional competency through practice and training.

Factors

There are nine EI key skills:

  1. Emotional awareness
  2. Healthy self-confidence
  3. Emotional discipline
  4. Adaptability
  5. Empathy
  6. Having a social/organizational orientation
  7. Having a drive for success
  8. Influence
  9. Aptitude for collaboration
